Power First, Direction Later: The Mythos–Fable Restriction and the Peril of Releasing Capacity Without a Compass
This essay is a contemporary commentary on the United States government's restriction and limited restoration of access to the Claude Mythos 5 and Fable 5 artificial-intelligence models (9–27 June 2026). The author argues that what the state altered was not the models' capability but their direction: the same model became forbidden when its direction was open, and permitted when bound to the defense of critical infrastructure. From this a principle is drawn — great capacity is never neutral and demands direction; and when a capacity does not carry its own compass from within, direction is imposed from outside, late, blunt, and contested. The principle is applied to AI-Based Jurimetrics, introducing for the first time the term Jurimetric Compass: an axiological pole fixing substantive justice as the method's north. The author sets out an inverted relation between jurimetrics and the progressive law of Prof. Satjipto Rahardjo — not as a follower but as a revealer that gives the ideal of justice naked textual proof. The essay is time-stamped (impermanent) and declares itself not a canonical work.
