The ZM Conjecture: On the Joint Emergence of Three-Dimensional Space and Time from Non-Variational Topological Constraints - Discrete Geometric Obstruction and Energy Bounds

English:We formulate a conjecture relating the emergence of three-dimensional space and the existence of time to a common structural origin. Under minimal assumptions, namely a universal norm bound and local continuous dynamics without variational principles, we argue that non-contractible dynamical rigidities arise if and only if the spatial dimension is three. A dimensional analysis shows that constrained homotopy structures are trivial in dimensions two and below and in dimensions four and above, identifying dimension three as the only non-trivial regime. We further introduce a discrete geometric model and establish a model-independent lower bound on vertex displacement required to trivialize Hopf-linked configurations, together with a non-zero lower bound on total deformation effort. These results provide a first quantitative obstruction under constrained dynamics. The existence of a uniform lower bound on instantaneous deformation speed remains an open problem.
