Design and implementation of the EAST central safety interlock system based on SIS devices

The CSIS serves as the primary line of defense for ensuring the safety of critical equipment and personnel in the EAST fusion device. In this study, the reconstruction and optimization of the CSIS are designed and implemented utilizing a SIS device and the EPICS platform. At the hardware level, a TMR architecture coupled with a 2oo3D voting mechanism is employed to guarantee high system safety and reliability. At the software level, the EPICS toolchain is utilized to implement supervisory monitoring, data archiving, and historical record retrieval functionalities. Test results demonstrate that the system achieves a response time of 30 ms and meets SIL3 requirements. This verifies the feasibility of deploying an SIS for central safety interlocks in nuclear fusion applications, providing a technical foundation and reference for the design of a unified CCS platform. The system has successfully passed comprehensive testing, with all performance metrics meeting design requirements, and is scheduled for deployment in the 2026 spring experimental campaign.
