Synthesis of Sr-NiO and 4-aminobenzoic acid-functionalized Sr-NiO nanoparticles - A structural, optical and surface analysis
This study reports the synthesis, functionalization, and characterization of strontium-doped nickel oxide (Sr-NiO)nanoparticles using 4-Aminobenzoic acid (4-ABA) as a functionalizing agent. Both pure and functionalized nanoparticles were prepared by the co-precipitation method. XRD confirmed a FCC structure with crystallite size below 8.58 nm, while FTIR verified functional group interactions with functionalization. UV-Vis analysis showed a slight redshift in the absorption edge after functionalization, while the estimated optical bandgap exhibited only marginal variation.PL and XPS results indicated defect modification and chemical interaction with 4-ABA. FESEM images revealed reduced agglomeration, and EDX confirmed compositional changes. These results indicate successful surface modification and subtle changes in the optical and surface characteristics of the nanoparticles.
