Watching Brief at Holy Trinity Church, Sutton Coldfield, United Kingdom
WATCHING BROEF AND MONITORING WHILST AFTER APERTURES WERE OPENED It seems that the wall utilizes the natural sandstone above and behind it, with the stonework providing a more uniform look to the natural outcrop, that seems almost defensive in nature. In some areas, a rubble infill has clearly been utilised, on the south and south-east sides of the wall this is only a few centimeters in depth, however, within aperture one this was up to 1.4m deep. The function of the chamber revealed by aperture two has yet to be determined. This could be crypt-like in nature, however, equally it may have been associated with former dwelli8ngs in the area. However, further investigation is not possible at this present time due to health and safety restrictions. Therefore, we will defer to the DAA for further recommendations.
