WAVE-ADAPT: Dynamic Wave Propagation and Error-Driven Adaptive Decay in Pure Integer Neuromorphic Systems
This paper introduces WAVE-ADAPT: a two-mode adaptive decay mechanism that converts every prediction step into a corrective signal, dynamically tuning the system's memory horizon based on real-time prediction accuracy. By automatically toggling between rapid erasure (1/2 decay) during stable predictions and long-term memory preservation (7/8 decay) during predictive failures, the system dynamically resolves the stability-plasticity dilemma. The entire mathematical model is designed around pure integer arithmetic (using uint8_t and uint16_t cells) to run efficiently on ultra-low-power hardware without floating-point units.
