Jennifer Herrera Research Agenda 1.0
My research focuses on the transition from restorative dentistry toward regenerative and biomimetic approaches that preserve natural tooth structure while promoting biological repair. Traditional dental interventions frequently rely on surgical or restorative procedures following tissue destruction. Emerging regenerative technologies offer the possibility of intervening earlier in the disease process and facilitating natural tissue regeneration. My long-term objective is to contribute to the development of evidence-based regenerative therapies that improve clinical outcomes, reduce invasive treatment needs, and enhance long-term oral health. Particular emphasis is placed on biomimetic remineralization systems, self-assembling peptide technologies, enamel regeneration, and minimally invasive caries management. This agenda is grounded in the growing movement toward preventive and regenerative dentistry highlighted through current investigations of self-assembling peptide P11-4 and related biomaterials.
