Land at Salters Lane, Gosforth Business Park: Trial Trench Evaluation Report

Five trenches were mechanically excavated across one field to investigate linear and dipolar anomalies identified through geophysical survey. An east to west aligned ditch was recorded across two trenches, which corresponds to a field boundary recorded on historic OS maps. All other anomalies discovered through geophysical survey were identified as disturbance from modern drains, rooting, and wheel ruts.

Abstract

Five trenches were mechanically excavated across one field to investigate linear and dipolar anomalies identified through geophysical survey. An east to west aligned ditch was recorded across two trenches, which corresponds to a field boundary recorded on historic OS maps. All other anomalies discovered through geophysical survey were identified as disturbance from modern drains, rooting, and wheel ruts.
