A tethered nitrenium strategy for functionalized morpholines

We describe an effective strategy for the stereospecific synthesis of functional group-rich morpholines. Our reaction protocol benefits from the remarkable properties of tethered nitreniums and utilizes inexpensive, commercial hypervalent iodine oxidants. This technology is operationally simple and does not require the rigorous exclusion of air or ambient moisture for success.

Abstract

We describe an effective strategy for the stereospecific synthesis of functional group-rich morpholines. Our reaction protocol benefits from the remarkable properties of tethered nitreniums and utilizes inexpensive, commercial hypervalent iodine oxidants. This technology is operationally simple and does not require the rigorous exclusion of air or ambient moisture for success.
