2 Bunny Lane, Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. Archaeological Monitoring and Recording

An archaeologist was in attendance during all significant groundworks following demolition of The Old Manse associated with the adjacent former Congregational chapel. Groundworks included significant ground reductions into the slope to Bunny Lane, resulting in the removal of almost all deposits above the level of the natural clays. Monitoring resulted in the identification of a small number of archaeological features (probably all post medieval) including a ditch aligned north to south, pits and a cut containing a cow burial. The cow was of a size consistent with a late medieval or post medieval date, but smaller than would be expected for improved stock of 19th century and later date. Features related to the former Old Manse included a cellar and a well located in the area to the north.
