Lived Experiences of Economic Inequality: A Qualitative Study of Psychosocial Consequences Among NEET University Graduates in Türkiye

This study examines how university-educated NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth in Türkiye perceive and experience economic inequality and its psychosocial consequences. Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, data were collected from 17 graduates aged 18–24 who had remained NEET for at least one year. Findings show that inequality is experienced not only as material deprivation but also as moral injustice and identity disruption, leading to low self-esteem, isolation, anger, and burnout. Participants emphasized the need for structured transition programs, career guidance, and psychosocial support. The study highlights the importance of integrated policies addressing both economic and psychosocial dimensions.
