Heritage Assessment at Capital Park Cambridgeshire

Review of proposal, HER data, map regression The importance of the Conservation Area is high, however, the changes and additions are minor. The proposed new mast will not be visible from Victoria House due to the curvature of Capital Park Road and a masking by an established tree line. The mast will only be visible from the modern Syngenta building, within the northern part of the business park. The Conservation Area Appraisal of 2007 mentions specifically that one of the successes of the redevelopment of this part of the Conservation Area was the fact that the views south towards Cambridge Road were not altered. The mast will not be visible from this vista. It will only be visible from the junction of Capital Park Road and Fulbourn Old Drift, and won't be visible from other parts of this road, due to the existing tree cover. It is in a less prominent place than an existing telecoms mast, which is located directly on Fulbourn Old Drift. The proposed new mast will sit on the boundary of the conservation area, and, due to its large size, will have an effect on the setting of the conservation area. However, due to the protection afforded from tree cover and the curvature of the road, this impact has been identified as moderate
