Causes, clinical manifestations, and treatment efficacy of recurrent pulmonary tuberculosis.
Objective: Within the contemporary medical and scientific community, research aimed at identifying the causes, analysing the clinical manifestations, and evaluating the effectiveness of treatment for recurrent pulmonary tuberculosis has become particularly relevant considering an increasing number of cases of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) resistance to anti-tuberculosis drugs (ATDs). Methods: The study encompasses an analysis of the primary factors contributing to recurrences, including socio-economic conditions, alcohol abuse, comorbidities, incarceration, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and others. The morbidity structure is examined, key clinical manifestations and complications of recurrent tuberculosis are identified, and the efficacy of chemotherapy is assessed depending on the drug resistance of MTB. Statistical analysis demonstrated the percentage of successful cessation of bacterial excretion and cavity closure, as well as treatment outcomes. Results: Thus, the study represents a comprehensive analysis aimed at improving the understanding of the dynamics and factors of recurrent pulmonary tuberculosis, which is crucial for the development of more effective treatment. Conclusions: The study holds practical value for healthcare professionals, as it provides data and observations that can be utilised to enhance strategies for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the disease, thereby contributing to improved healthcare quality, the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, and ultimately the health and well-being of patients.
