The genome sequence of the Greater Red-tailed Flesh Fly, Sarcophaga vagans Meigen, 1826 (Diptera: Sarcophagidae)
<ns5:p> We present a genome assembly from an individual male <ns5:italic>Sarcophaga vagans</ns5:italic> (Greater Red-tailed Flesh Fly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Sarcophagidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 701.72 megabases and 618.56 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (83.71%) is scaffolded into 6 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 19.01 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland. </ns5:p>
