Arthroscopic Assisted Acromioclavicular Joint Stabilization Using a Tensionable Suture Button Construct and Cerclage Tape Augmentation

Abstract Surgical stabilization of the acromioclavicular joint can be achieved using a variety of techniques. Coracoclavicular fixation with tapes, sutures, and button systems is one of the surgical methods used to restore stability of the acromioclavicular joint. There is currently no definitive superior technique for acromioclavicular joint fixation, and complications such as loss of reduction and implant‐related issues remain a concern. The purpose of this Technical Note is to describe a reproducible surgical technique for acromioclavicular joint stabilization that employs a tensionable coracoclavicular button system augmented with cerclage suture tapes. This construct allows for precise tensioning, improved stability, and the potential to minimize the need for additional fixation or hardware removal.
