When I started my fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology, type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) management mostly meant numbers to me.Blood glucose readings, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, insulin doses, and correction factors were the things I focused on during every consultation.My aim was simple-improve the numbers.
