Interfacial Engineering of MXene Nanosheet-Coated Aramid Textile for Washable Multi-Functional E-Textile

High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide The practical application of MXene-based wearable electronics is often hindered by poor interfacial adhesion and environmental instability. This study addresses these challenges through a bioinspired interfacial design on mechanically robust aramid textiles. By synergistic coupling of H 2 O 2 /plasma surface activation with a polydopamine (PDA)/polyethylenimine (PEI) polyelectrolyte bridge, we achieved highly uniform MXene loading and strengthened interfacial bonding. The optimized conductive textiles exhibit a low electrical resistance (<20 Ω cm –2 ), excellent washing durability, and retained breathability (∼4100 g m –2 day –1 water vapor transmission rate). Furthermore, a hydrophobic silica coating was integrated to achieve a 130° water contact angle, protecting the MXene from moisture-induced degradation. Beyond its stability, the fabric serves as a high-performance platform for strain sensing, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding (∼21 dB), and infrared thermal camouflage, establishing a comprehensive strategy for durable and water-tolerant multifunctional wearable systems.
