Requirements for the Design of Structures Based on Reliability Analysis
Probabilistic and statistical methods are increasingly used in procedures for rationing the design parameters of structures. The probabilistic approach stems from the fact that all structural strength, geometric, and deformation characteristics, as well as all actions on it, are random variables or random processes. Structural design is a decision–making process that must consider various uncertainties in order to achieve an acceptable probability of failure.
