Special Issue Celebrating Professor Vijay K. Dhir
Over a distinguished career spanning more than five decades, Professor Dhir has made pioneering contributions to the fundamental and applied sciences of boiling heat transfer, phase-change heat transfer, two-phase flows, microgravity boiling, nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics and safety, and water desalination. He has led the Boiling Heat Transfer Laboratory at UCLA, which has conducted influential work on pool boiling, microgravity boiling, nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics and safety, and related problems in efficient heat removal. His research has helped advance boiling heat transfer from empirical correlations toward mechanistic understanding of interfacial transport, bubble dynamics, hydrodynamic instabilities, and critical heat flux.
