End-to-End Automation of SAP Landscape Refreshes: A Service Delivery Perspective
SAP landscapes underpin business continuity, agility, and innovation, yet their lifecycle management, particularly system refreshes, remains one of the most resource-intensive and risk-laden operational tasks for SAP and service-delivery teams. This paper argues that automation is not merely an optimization but a strategic enabler of quality, consistency, and predictable outcomes. It distinguishes task automation from orchestration and from compliance guardrails, frames end-to-end automation as a set of composable services rather than scripts, and examines how this shift repositions technical teams from firefighting toward governance. Two anonymized client cases, a global retailer and a regulated healthcare organization, illustrate measurable impact, and the paper closes with guidance for leaders on overcoming adoption barriers to build trustworthy automation.
