Visible-Light-Mediated 1,2-Arylpyridylation of Alkenes Using Arylboronic Acids and Cyanopyridines

We report a visible-light-mediated photoreduction strategy for the three-component 1,2-arylpyridylation of alkenes with arylboronic acids and 4-cyanopyridines. The reaction mechanism was verified via radical trapping experiments and DFT calculations. This reaction proceeds under mild conditions, features broad substrate compatibility and is readily scalable to the gram scale.

Abstract

We report a visible-light-mediated photoreduction strategy for the three-component 1,2-arylpyridylation of alkenes with arylboronic acids and 4-cyanopyridines. The reaction mechanism was verified via radical trapping experiments and DFT calculations. This reaction proceeds under mild conditions, features broad substrate compatibility and is readily scalable to the gram scale.
