A Bibliometric Analysis on S100A6: Current Status and FutureDevelopments

Background: S100A6, a promising biomarker for diagnosis, prognosis, and potential therapy, has garnered significant attention in oncology, neurological diseases, leukemia, and endometriosis. This study aims to use bibliometric analysis to provide a comprehensive and objective overview of S100A6 publishing trends, keywords, authors, institutions, and collaborations. Methods:We chose the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI- EXPANDED)index of WoSCC as the source database for data retrieval on April 15, 2024. The search themes were "TS=(S100A6)". Documents were limited to Articles with no language restrictions. Full records and citations were collected. The R software and the Online Analysis Platform of Literature Metrology were used to data analysis and visual analysis. Results: There were 509 documents on “S100A6” in the WOSCC from 1996 to 2024(April 15, 2024). The published documents showed a wavy growth trend. According to WoS report, China, the United States and Japan were the top three countries involved in this research area, the majority of publications were included in the subject area "Biochemistry Molecular Biology". University of Zurich contributed the most publications, followed by Free University of Brussels and Shanghai Jiaotong University. The journal of Biological Chemistry contributed the most publications. Heizmann CW authored 36 articles and had the highest H-index. The key words of the research have changed significantly over years. Conclusion: This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive analysis of research trends and hot spots on the topic of S100A6. Further research should focus on analyzing the interaction between S100A6 and other regulatory pathways and improves clinical applications.
