ChainIDentity: Software architecture and implementation of the blockchain-based digital identity ecosystem
This paper presents ChainIDentity, a blockchain-based digital identity ecosystem architecture designed to digitize and secure physical identity documents ensuring interoperability and user privacy. To manage digital identities, the system employs a microservices architecture that integrates Ethereum smart contracts, RESTful APIs, and off-chain databases. The proposed approach addresses key challenges in digital identity management, such as decentralized trust. ChainIDentity comprises four core smart contracts, four front-end services, and four microservices orchestrated through an API Gateway, to provide a secure platform with privacy, authenticity, integrity, and non-repudiation characteristics. Experiments demonstrate portability across multiple platforms and validate architectural feasibility.
