Investigating the photoluminescence property of advanced PCG and PCPtG polymer nanocomposites

For the first time, we report photoluminescence (PL) property of the newly developed advanced polymer nanocomposites, namely: PCG and PCPtG polymer nanocomposites. In preparing these nanocomposites, the blend of Chitosan and PVA polymers was used as host matrix, while undecorated GO and Pt-decorated GO were used as nanofillers. The surface morphology of the PCPtG polymer nanocomposite enhances and improves interfacial interactions and facilitates charge transfer, leading to PL quenching due to suppressed electron-hole recombination. In the PL spectra, the emission was found in the range of 325-600 nm for a ~350 nm excitation wavelength. The colour parameters, including chromaticity coordinates (x, y), dominant wavelength (λ d ), and colour purity (%) of the nanocomposites have been evaluated using the CIE (1931) colour diagram. The colour purity is 42.80 % at a dominant wavelength of 435 nm for the PCG polymer nanocomposite, while for the PCPtG polymer nanocomposite, the colour purity is 53.67 % at 413 nm, respectively. Such improved spectral purity and higher-energy emission make PCPtG nanocomposites attractive for particular applications in optoelectronic devices, including blue-violet light-emitting diodes (LEDs), display technologies, security inks, and photonic sensors.
