Scattering interaction around anode of PEMFC in presence of non-monochromatic photon

Scattering interactions around the anode of Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) play a critical role in determining their efficiency, particularly in the presence of non-monochromatic photons. These photons, with a range of energies, influence electron scattering dynamics, which in turn affects the charge transfer processes within the PEMFC system. Understanding the impact of these scattering interactions is essential for optimizing the performance of PEMFCs, as they govern the efficiency of electron flow and the overall energy conversion process. The objective of this work is study how temperature, phase conditions, and polarization influence DCS, providing insights into electron flow and scattering dynamics under various thermal and polarization settings. The methodology involved with theoretical development of model and computational analysis of developed model under zero and non-zero temperatures (T = 0 °C, 4°C, and 5°C), with phase angles (π and π/2) and polarization states (elliptical, linear, and circular). The findings shows temperature and polarization significantly affect DCS behavior, with elliptical polarization generally resulting in the highest DCS values, followed by linear and circular polarizations. At zero temperature, DCS exhibited oscillatory behavior, while thermal effects at non-zero temperatures damping oscillations and led to higher overall DCS values. The results also highlighted the trade-off between increased DCS and reduced electron flow at higher temperatures, which negatively impacts PEMFC efficiency. Recommendations for optimizing PEMFC performance include operating at lower temperatures to minimize DCS and enhance electron flow, as well as considering polarization adjustments to mitigate the adverse effects of scattering. This study underscores the importance of carefully managing temperature and polarization conditions for maximizing system performance in scattering-based applications and fuel cell technologies.
