Electrochemical Oxidative [3 + 2] Annulation of Enaminones and Phenols Toward 2‐Amino‐3‐Aroylbenzofurans
An efficient electrochemical oxidative [3 + 2] annulation of enaminones and phenols has been developed for the synthesis of structurally diverse 2‐amino‐3‐aroylbenzofurans in moderate to excellent yields. This protocol proceeds under mild, transition‐metal, and oxidant‐free conditions, exhibiting excellent substrate diversity and high functional group compatibility. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that the reaction involves a radical pathway initiated by anodic oxidation of the chloride ion. The Gram‐scale synthesis and diverse transformations demonstrate the synthetic practicality.
