Computational Finance Intelligence: A Conceptual Framework for Autonomous Financial Decision Systems

The financial sector is experiencing a profound transformation driven by advances in artificial intelligence, data science, software engineering and computational infrastructure. Traditional financial decision-making has historically depended upon human expertise, institutional knowledge and retrospective analysis of economic and market information. While these approaches continue to influence financial practice, the increasing complexity of global markets and the growing volume of financial data have created demand for computational systems capable of supporting more adaptive and scalable forms of intelligence. Consequently, financial institutions are increasingly integrating machine learning, predictive analytics and automated decision architectures into core operational and strategic processes. Despite substantial progress in financial technology, existing discussions frequently treat analytical models, algorithmic trading systems and artificial intelligence applications as isolated innovations. Comparatively less attention has been devoted to understanding how these technologies collectively contribute to broader financial intelligence capabilities. This conceptual preprint addresses this gap by introducing the concept of Computational Finance Intelligence (CFI), defined as the organizational and technological capability through which computational systems continuously acquire, process, interpret and operationalize financial information in support of adaptive decision-making under conditions of uncertainty. The manuscript proposes a conceptual framework explaining how financial data resources, analytical models, computational infrastructures and decision architectures interact to create autonomous financial intelligence systems. Unlike traditional perspectives that emphasize individual technologies, the proposed framework views computational finance as an evolving ecosystem in which intelligence emerges through integration across multiple organizational and technological dimensions. The paper further explores the implications of autonomous financial decision systems for financial institutions, investment management and future market structures.
