Entanglement Network Gravity: A Topological Derivation of the Koide Relation and the Origin of Flavor
The Standard Model treats fermion masses, mixing angles, and the number of generations as independent free parameters. This paper develops the matter sector of Entanglement Network Gravity, a framework in which spacetime and matter are emergent descriptions of one unified quantum field whose field-level entanglement is the primitive substrate. Fermions are identified as topological defects of the network. A charged lepton is a three-fold (Z3) vertex defect whose mass-amplitude operator is forced by symmetry into the circulant (Brannen) form, and a single postulate of topological balance then yields the Koide relation R = 2/3 exactly. Rewritten as R = D_geom/3, the relation ties the Koide bound R <= 1 to the two-dimensionality of the network and forces exactly three generations with no fourth. A single network chirality θ∗ = 2/9, equal to the balance fraction per color R/N, governs the lepton mass ratios, the Cabibbo angle (λ = sin θ∗), and the power structure of the CKM hierarchy. Anchored by yt= 1, the entire charged-fermion mass spectrum is reproduced to within order-unity factors as m ≈ (v/√2) λN. The order-unity coefficients, the electroweak scale, and a first-principles value of θ∗ are identified as the framework's isolated open problems.
