Primary oral tuberculosis mimicking malignancy
A chronic illness like tuberculosis (TB) is still rampant in developing nations like India. Although it is primarily a pulmonary disease, extrapulmonary manifestations can impact any organ system. Oral cavity involvement is not very common, and sometimes, it may clinically mimic oral cancer. We are going to discuss a situation where ulcers in the oral cavity looked like cancer. Medical history is crucial, and diseases that could present with similar symptoms should be considered in differential diagnosis before treatment. This is the case of a 25-year-old female in our department complaining of non-healing, painful oral ulcers. We hereby present a rare case of primary oral TB in a young female, diagnosed by histopathology and successfully treated with anti-tubercular therapy (ATT).
