Port Respire : A Multi-Scale Spatio-Temporal Framework for Active Port Infrastructure
This research paper introduces the Port Respire framework, a novel multidisciplinary approach to maritime decarbonization that bridges the gap between Civil Engineering, Green Logistics, and Pure Mathematics. While contemporary port sustainability strategies predominantly focus on operational and synchromodal flexibility, the Port Respire framework proposes a structural evolution: the implementation of modular, bio-active hexagonal infrastructure designed for active carbon sequestration. The core contribution of this work is the development and comparative analysis of three mathematical formulations for modeling environmental performance. The paper justifies the selection of a Discrete Spatio-Temporal Model, which allows for topological optimization of modular assemblies and high computational efficiency.Central to the model’s temporal dynamics is a modulation function inspired by the recurrence patterns identified in the Numerical Origin Theory (Charrat, 2025). By utilizing the Modulo-9 structural mechanism, the framework replaces traditional stochastic noise with a deterministic wave-based analogy, ensuring that the infrastructure's performance cycle aligns with the inherent arithmetic periodicities of the number system. This paper provides port authorities and engineers with a robust, quantifiable decision-support tool to evaluate the net environmental contribution of physical port assets. It effectively addresses operational barriers in green logistics by transforming passive structural elements into active environmental engines.
