The Cosmological Trinity - Dark Matter, Dark Energy, and Spacetime as Manifestations of a Common Transport-Memory Hierarchy
This work presents an ontological interpretation of dark matter, dark energy, and spacetime within the mature Scalar Drag Emergence Framework (SDEF). Rather than treating these concepts as independent cosmological components, the framework interprets them as different observational manifestations of a common transport-memory hierarchy. The paper introduces a hierarchical emergence cascade extending from primitive transport organization through structural memory, ancestry, compartmentation, emergent geometry, hydrodynamic regimes, compact regimes, and thermodynamic coarse-graining. Within this hierarchy, spacetime is interpreted as an emergent geometric description of organized transport, dark matter as ancestry-induced modifications of transport geometry, and dark energy as the large-scale consequences of gradient dilution and ancestry dominance. A central theme of the work is the distinction between primordial and mature organizational regimes. The paper argues that the cosmological trinity may be most naturally understood as a description of the mature observable universe rather than a primordial ontology. Difficulties associated with primordial cosmology and extreme regimes such as black holes are interpreted as potential indicators that these concepts emerge from deeper organizational processes. The work is intentionally ontological in scope. Detailed mathematical derivations and phenomenological developments are addressed in companion SDEF papers on emergent geometry, ancestry-induced transport dynamics, and cosmological expansion.
