Helix-CDN: Design and Evaluation of an Event-Driven Runtime for Scalable Distributed Systems
Helix-CDN is a research-oriented event-driven runtime developed to investigate the architectural foundations of large-scale distributed systems and content delivery infrastructures. The project explores reactor-based event dispatch, lock-free queueing, adaptive scheduling, work-stealing execution models, memory pooling, write-ahead logging, and memory-mapped storage mechanisms. The artifact includes a complete implementation in Go, a reproducible benchmark suite, Linux validation experiments, architecture diagrams, scalability analyses, and cross-platform performance evaluations. The work is motivated by the challenge of understanding how modern large-scale streaming and distributed platforms maintain responsiveness and operational stability under massive concurrency. This record contains the complete research manuscript associated with the Helix-CDN project and serves as a reproducible systems research artifact for benchmarking, architectural analysis, and future extensions in distributed runtime design.
