Case report on retrieval of copper-T from bowel
We present a case of sequelae of a copper T that underwent transmural displacement into the rectal lumen, necessitating its ultimate extraction through a laparoscopic methodology. While uterine mural erosion and ensuing perforation constitute recognized, though infrequent, complications associated with copper T usage, the subsequent intraperitoneal transgression into the rectal wall represents a rare and complex clinical entity. Furthermore, this report incorporates a critical appraisal of the contemporary therapeutic dilemma, evaluating the definitive indications and advantages of employing laparotomy versus the laparoscopic modality for the retrieval of such ectopically positioned foreign bodies. This analysis underscores the evolving preference for minimally invasive surgical techniques in managing complex visceral migrations. If done by skilled experts, laparoscopy excels laparotomy.
