Additive manufacturing as a tool for waste reduction and the transition to green construction
Additive technologies (3D printing) are considered a modern instrument for the transition of the construction industry toward environmentally sustainable development. The use of construction 3D printers helps reduce waste, lower the carbon footprint, and promote the rational use of raw materials. The application of geopolymer, fly ash, and biopolymer mixtures allows partial replacement of cement and reduction of CO₂ emissions. The article presents examples of projects employing 3D printing in Russia and abroad, along with an analysis of the advantages of this technology compared to traditional construction methods. Special attention is given to issues of energy efficiency, life cycle assessment of materials, and the integration of green building principles. Technological and regulatory aspects of implementing additive solutions that influence the sustainability and environmental safety of construction processes are also considered. The integration of 3D printing with digital technologies and eco-friendly materials is identified as a key direction for reducing the environmental impact of construction.
