“Stream-to-Learn Method” for Designing Digital Learning Environments

High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide In this work, the first theoretically based development of the “stream-to-learn method” as a didactically sound method is described and discussed. To this end, the newly designed series “Basic Negative” was developed and evaluated for use in school chemistry lessons (for students aged 12–15). By using this method, students should acquire interlinked knowledge and their skills for self-organized learning should be supported and therefore promoted. Students can work at their own pace, repeat content as necessary, and decide how to document their work. The method’s suitability was rated by 16 students of a master course which has a clear focus on new didactic methods. The students rated the method as suitable for designing digital learning environments. To their opinion, working with the digital learning environment should be suitable for autonomous learning in chemistry lessons at school. Focusing on electron movement early on in chemistry lessons and introducing electron transitions was also rated as appropriate. Overall, the design of the series was also rated very well.
