Robust Plant‐Wearable Enzymatic Sensors for Long‐Term and Onsite Monitoring of Pesticide Residues in Crops
ABSTRACT Food safety and agricultural productivity are increasingly threatened by the excessive use of pesticides. However, the lack of effective strategies to track pesticide residues within living crops hinders the realization of precise pesticide management and sustainable food production. In this study, plant‐wearable hydrogel discs are constructed by embedding enzyme‒inorganic hybrid nanoflowers (HNF) within a dual‐network hydrogel. A stepwise spatial engineering strategy that integrates biomimetic mineralization with layer‐by‐layer protein corona assembly enables the ordered incorporation of multiple enzymes into nanostructures, generating a radially biased hierarchical distribution that promotes efficient substrate channeling and substantially enhances the catalytic performance of the enzyme cascade system. Benefiting from the signal recognition and amplification capabilities of the spatially controlled HNF, the hydrogel discs exhibit significantly enhanced sensitivity, with chlorpyrifos detection occurring at the nanogram per milliliter level. Moreover, the dual‐network hydrogel discs have high flexibility, surface adaptability, and long‐term stability, enabling the dynamic monitoring of pesticide degradation on the hairy crops. These hydrogel discs provide a noninvasive tool by which pesticide information can be acquired on site, facilitating the precise management of crop health and promoting the informed development of precision agriculture.
