Title: Free Will Without Quantum Mechanics: A Logical Foundation This paper argues that the logical foundation of free will lies not in quantum indeterminacy, but in the undecidability results of Gödel's incompleteness theorems and Turing's halting problem. We demonstrate that even in a classically deterministic universe, any sufficiently complex self-referential reasoning system generates decisions that are logically impossible to pre-determine in finite steps — rendering Laplace's demon incapable of predicting them in principle. We identify two logical barriers facing the demon: the fixed-point problem (prediction paradox) and the infinite regress of self-simulation. Beyond logical impossibility, we further demonstrate that the demon is also physically impossible due to the combined constraints of Landauer's limit, Bremermann's limit, and the Bekenstein bound — constituting a "triple death sentence." We critically examine and refute Penrose's argument that quantum effects in neuronal microtubules elevate the human brain above Turing machines, showing that he conflates "inside vs. outside a system" with "human vs. machine." We propose that computational indeterminacy provides a third option beyond both determinism and randomness — a freedom grounded not in physical contingency but in the intrinsic limits of logic itself. A corollary is that any Turing-complete self-referential reasoning system, whether carbon-based or silicon-based, shares this logical structure and thus this form of freedom.
