Evolution of dialysis in Dubai: A historical perspective with mysteries unfolding and a hitherto untold story
Initiating hemodialysis in Dubai as early as 1980 represented a significant and ambitious undertaking. At that time, the medical infrastructure in the region was still developing, and the introduction of such advanced renal treatment was a challenge. It required not only sophisticated equipment and technology, which were limited in availability, but also the training of healthcare professionals to ensure proper treatment and care for patients with kidney failure. This pioneering effort laid the groundwork for improving renal health services in the area and marked a crucial step forward in the history of medical advancements in Dubai. In this paper, I will share my personal journey and experience of beginning dialysis in Dubai, with the hope that it may inspire others facing similar challenges.
