Supernatural Narratives as Epistemic Events: A Futures-Oriented Analysis from Budaun, India

This article analyzes a reported supernatural encounter from Budaun, North India, as a culturally embedded narrative rather than a claim of metaphysical verification. Using narrative inquiry, the study foregrounds a detailed experiential account and situates it within Islamic cosmology, local memory, and comparative regional incidents. Drawing on concepts of liminality, the uncanny, and non-human agency, the article demonstrates how such narratives function as epistemic events through which uncertainty is negotiated. By framing supernatural experience as narrative knowledge, the study contributes to futures research by advancing epistemological pluralism in technologically mediated societies.
