Baryogenesis from Temporal Field Fragmentation

We propose a novel mechanism for baryogenesis driven by the tachyonic frag mentation of a fundamental pseudoscalar temporal field T(x). Unlike conventional axion-like models, T(x) acts as a dynamical “khronon” that defines the causal folia tion of spacetime. Its derivative coupling to the B −L current induces spontaneous CPT violation, generating an effective chemical potential. We demonstrate that the standard homogeneous slow-roll regime is insufficient to produce the observed asymmetry. However, the tachyonic instability of T(x) triggers a non-linear frag mentation phase, where root-mean-square fluctuations dominate: ⟨ ˙T2⟩ ≫ ⟨ ˙T⟩2. This non-perturbative enhancement naturally yields the observed baryon asymme try ηB−L ∼ 10−10 in a perturbative parameter space, while immunity to sphaleron washout is guaranteed by B−L conservation. Furthermore, this rapid fragmentation sources a distinctive stochastic gravitational wave background peaking in the milli hertz band, accessible to LISA. Finally, the mandatory gravitational Chern–Simons coupling of T(x) induces parity-violating modifications to black hole geometries, establishing a direct observational bridge between early Universe cosmology and strong-field gravity.
