Therapeutic Setting as Support for Admissible Transformation
This technical note develops a narrow human-processing architecture for relating an exact model-declared therapeutic setting to independently owned processing outcomes without building therapeutic benefit into the definition of the setting. A setting is represented as a provenance-bearing configuration governed by an explicit setting contract. It is separately aligned to an exact human referent, while the outcome itself is imported from its original owner architecture. The paper distinguishes setting presence, setting–outcome association, matched same-referent outcome difference, directional support, and effect qualification. These are progressively stronger evidential constructions rather than stages of a therapeutic process. A positive directional support result means only that an exact matched focal-versus-reference setting comparison satisfies a predeclared support-direction criterion on one owner-specific outcome surface. It is not a causal result unless an independent effect qualification with appropriate identification evidence is also established. In the title-level case, support for admissible transformation is restricted to the exact candidate-relative structural-admissibility surface owned by the structural-transformation architecture. It does not imply selection, initiation, completion, realization, persistence, safety, clinical efficacy, or general therapeutic benefit. Bounded-setting configuration, pacing, symbolic-response configuration, interactional continuity, role-demand constraints, and repetition opportunity are represented as setting-side features rather than outcome mechanisms. None is treated as beneficial, protective, stabilizing, or transformative by identity. Accessibility, overload, symbolic status, local or gradual updating, identity-continuity, current within-human conflict, and structural transformation remain separate owner surfaces. A positive result on one cannot be promoted to another without a new outcome-specific comparison. The resulting construction therefore provides a provenance-preserving interface for studying setting-related support while keeping therapeutic context, directional support, causal effect, and clinical benefit formally distinct.
