We Have the Machines to End Water Poverty. We Are Still Missing the Room.
In 1985, forty musicians in one room raised more than one hundred million dollars with a single song. Forty years later, 2.1 billion people still lack safely managed drinking water and 730 million live without electricity, even though the technology to change that exists and the companies that could fund it are worth tens of trillions. The cost of universal clean water is about 114 billion dollars a year, a rounding error against that wealth. The obstacle stopped being technical or financial a long time ago. It is a failure of coordination and will.Originally published at https://mickai.co.uk/articles/we-have-the-machines-to-end-water-poverty.
