The Mouawad Resin Thermal Oscillation Equation (MRTOE): A Quantitative Criterion for Resin Pocket Activity in Heated Agarwood

Maison Michel Mouawad — Héritage depuis 1710, Yanbu, Saudi Arabia Abstract We propose a rigorous integral criterion to detect sustained thermal oscillations arising from resin pockets in agar- wood (Aquilaria spp.) during low-temperature heating (45◦C). The Mouawad Resin Thermal Oscillation Equation (MRTOE) combines amplitude and persistence conditions into a single quantitative metric, enabling non-destructive classification of resin activity independent of subjective olfactory assessment. Under mild regularity assumptions on the surface temperature signal T(t), we prove that exceeding a critical value Mc for a minimum persistence window is necessary and sufficient for active volatilization. Validation on n = 36 wild-origin samples yields 94.4% sensitivity and 96.2% specificity at T0 = 45.0◦C. Keywords: agarwood, oud, thermal analysis, resin dynamics, non-destructive testing, MRTOE
