The Clockwork Cosmology: Gravity and Cosmic Dynamics as a Function of a Variable Time-Rate in Euclidean Space

This paper presents an alternative, self-contained cosmological model—the Clockwork Cosmology—which describes the phenomena of gravitation and cosmic redshift without assuming a four-dimensional spacetime curvature or an expansion of space (Big Bang hypothesis). The model postulates an absolutely flat, infinite, and rigid Euclidean space filled with a dynamic coordinate medium termed the Time-Aether. Physical masses locally condense this aether, resulting in a spatially dependent deceleration of the fundamental time-rate (T). The mechanical motion of bodies in space (gravitation) is defined as a purely local drift along this gradient, mathematically formulated by the universal equation of motion: a = c_0^2 * grad(T). It is demonstrated that this formulation, via the field equation of the Time-Aether T = 1 - (G * M) / (c_0^2 * r), converges exactly to Newton's law of universal gravitation in the classical limit. Furthermore, historical obstacles of alternative theories are resolved: cosmic redshift is explained as a collinear, coherent, and adiabatic stretching of light waves within the large-scale structure of the Time-Aether, preventing image degradation. Gravitational light deflection, including the relativistic factor of 2, is derived using Huygens' principle of wave optics via global velocity refraction within the density gradient. Finally, the PHARAO project (ACES mission) on the International Space Station (ISS) is proposed as a near-term empirical cross-test for the theory. ***Note on AI Assistance: Generative artificial intelligence (Gemini, developed by Google) was utilized as a tool to refine the linguistic phrasing and clarity of the manuscript, as well as to assist in the symbolic formatting of the mathematical equations. Abstract

The core physical concepts, derivations, and conclusions were developed entirely by the author, who holds full responsibility for the content.
