Next-Generation Orthodontic Brackets: A Review of Design Innovations and Clinical Applications

AbstractRecent innovations in orthodontic brackets have significantly improved the efficiency, aesthetics, and comfort of orthodontic treatment. Advancements such as self-ligating brackets, ceramic brackets, lingual systems, and customized 3D-printed brackets have enhanced treatment precision while reducing friction and chairside time. The incorporation of CAD/CAM technology and nanotechnology has further improved bracket design, biocompatibility, and antibacterial properties. Additionally, smart brackets integrated with sensors and artificial intelligence show promising potential for real-time monitoring of tooth movement and force application. These developments represent a major step toward more personalized, efficient, and patient-friendly orthodontic care.
