What Is This? An Approach to the Bootstrap Result of Cheung, Hillman & Remmen

This is a revised (v2) version of the earlier preprint. The original was framed in the format of an academic paper (abstract, formal argument structure, reference list), which overstated what the work actually is. This version reframes it honestly as an essay: the documentation of a line of thought developed by a non-physicist in conversation with AI assistants (Claude Sonnet 4.6, OpenAI's o3), which checked the reasoning and calculations. The core argument is unchanged — a reversal of the standard reading of the 2024/2026 bootstrap results (Cheung, Hillman & Remmen; Basile, Remmen & Staudt), arguing that Occam's Razor applies with qualified force in favor of string theory under the least arbitrary available conditions. This version also includes a methodological note on the importance of questioning AI output in both directions, prompted by a correction made to the original framing. Keywords:string theory, emergent spacetime, black holes, percolation, Big Bang, gravitational waves, quantum gravity
