Missed No More: Diagnosis and Management of a Two Canal Mandibular Anterior Tooth

AbstractMandibular anterior teeth are often assumed to have a single canal; however, anatomical variations such as the presence of a second canal can significantly affect endodontic outcomes if overlooked. This case report describes the successful management of a mandibular anterior tooth with two canals in a 41year old male patient presenting with pain and pulpal involvement.Careful radiographic evaluation and modification of the access cavity enabled identification of buccal and lingual canals. Cleaning and shaping were performed using rotary instruments with appropriate irrigation, followed by calcium hydroxide intracanal medication. Obturation was completed using the single cone technique with a bioceramic sealer. Postoperative evaluation showed satisfactory results with the patient remaining asymptomatic. This case emphasizes the importance of thorough diagnosis, awareness of anatomical variations, and meticulous treatment planning to achieve successful endodontic outcomes.
