Intrinsic electronic structure and nanoscale domains in the kagome superconductor KV 3 Sb 5 probed by space resolved photoemission spectroscopy

kagome superconductor, which exhibits charge-density-wave (CDW) order, by combining scanning photoelectron microscopy (SPEM) and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy using a sub-micron beam. Our findings suggest that in the CDW phase of the system at 30 K, percolative paths emerge, while at room temperature, the system exhibits homogeneity with suppressed CDW correlations. Despite its inhomogeneous nature, the CDW persists even on the Sb-terminated surface, as evidenced by the Dirac-cone gap associated with 2 × 2 CDW fluctuations. These results suggest that KV3Sb5 can serve as a model system for exploring emergent quantum phenomena arising from the interplay of topology, strong correlations, and lattice instabilities.

Abstract

kagome superconductor, which exhibits charge-density-wave (CDW) order, by combining scanning photoelectron microscopy (SPEM) and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy using a sub-micron beam.
