Management of Sepsis-Induced Coagulopathy and Septic Pulmonary Embolism Secondary to Severe Maxillofacial Space Infection
Poorly controlled severe maxillofacial space infection can easily lead to sepsis, which may further induce sepsis-induced coagulopathy (SIC), septic shock, and septic pulmonary embolism (SPE). Key strategies include: managing SIC with airway bleeding; implementing precise fluid resuscitation for septic shock while minimizing cardiovascular risks; ensuring safe anticoagulation therapy for SPE under high bleeding risk; and providing systemic anti-infection treatment along with meticulous care of the primary lesion. This article reports a case of a patient with severe maxillofacial space infection secondary to SIC, septic shock, and SPE.
