Semiconductor Engineering Analysis via a 3D Continuous Field Model
This study evaluates structural numerical errors in conventional finite difference grid approximations when computing spatial gradients (lattice strain and electrostatic potentials) in surface topography profiling (STP) and hetero-interface potential fields. Benchmarks across SiC trench sidewalls, GaAs hetero-interfaces, GaN-HEMT strain, Si-MOSFET potentials, and wafer surface topography show that discrete approximations inflate spatial stress by factors of 1.35 to 9.15 due to grid boundary fragmentation. To mitigate this, a 3D Continuous Field Model using trilinear interpolation and a 3×3×3 matrix convolution (27 degrees of freedom) was deployed, stabilizing total gradient energy by up to 95.383878%. Linear convergence at topological symmetry points (180.000000° azimuth, 45.000000° elevation) and Welch's t-test (P <= 10^-300) verify the model's geometric invariance and robust statistical identity.
